The production of pulp is presently carried out in various types of apparatus, the main difference between them being the consistency of the pulp at the time of its delivery to the user.
For the production of pulp for a paper product of a low consistency, in which the fibers, diluent, etc. are very wet, the pulp is usually produced with the aid of cylindrical screw machines. The production of pulp for a medium consistency, in which the fibers, diluent, etc. are more or less wet, is carried out with the aid of a screen press. For the production of pulp for a high consistency, in which the fibers, diluent, etc. are more or less dry, the pulp is produced in the wet range with the aid of a disk press.
In known disk presses, the pulp is produced on a screen or disk screen, the pulp being fed into the screen with a given consistency and subsequently discharged from it with a consistency which is lower than the consistency at which the pulp was fed to the screen.
In conventional presses of this type, the pulp leaving the screen is discharged and received in a pulp chamber, through which it is fed to a second screen which is provided with a view to carrying out the screening or filtration of the pulp.
With the aid of the above known devices, however, it is not possible to produce pulp with a predetermined consistency in the wet range and to discharge this pulp in a consistent manner. On the other hand, it is also impossible to carry out the screening of the pulp in an independent manner, with the view to obtaining a pulp of a predetermined consistency.The present invention relates to a new and distinctive corn inbred line, designated LH72-3D06.
